Welcome to the Animal Reports Project. This is an involved unit using animals as the focus for teaching your children some in depth writing techniques. The children will be involved in study, pre-writing, drafting, composing and publishing while covering many Common Core State Standards. Finally, the children have an opportunity to demonstrate their learning visually by creating a habitat diorama. This unit is created for kindergartners who have spent an entire school year working within a writer's workshop. If your students haven't done that, this unit would work well with first or even second graders. If you would like your students to participate in a writer's workshop, I have some advice for you.
